Azzedine Alaia

Loris Azzaro

Azzedine Alaia: is a world-renowned designer and a master of modern simplicity, where form expresses function. He learned about the human form when he was studying sculpture at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Tunis. In 1957, he moved to Paris and apprenticed with Dior, Laroche and Mugler. Alaia went on to a launch his own line in 1981 and focused on idealizing the female form with body clinging designs, reinforcing his belief that "the base of all fashion is the body". Nicknamed the "King of Cling" Alaia practically invented the stretch mini, Lycra cyling shorts and the body suit that became inspiration to high street fashion design. His atelier is not listed in any fashion house listing in Paris. Azzedine Alaia continues to cater to a very private clientele.

Loris Azzaro: was born in Tunisia in 1933. He attended the “Lycée Carnot de Tunis”. Attracted by French culture and language, Azzaro graduated with a degree in literature and became a professor. At the University of Toulouse, he met Michelle, a model who would become his wife and change the course of his life. Michelle asked Azzaro to create accessories and costume jewelry. This was the changing point. The sixties saw Loris Azzaro bloom as a designer. His clients included Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren, Raquel Welch, Tina Turner, Marisa Berenson, Claudia Cardinal, Joan Collins, Isabelle Adjani and Liza Mineli. A fashion designer above all, Azzaro could not imagine an elegant woman without a perfume reflecting who she is. Thus for Loris Azzaro, perfumes began with the Azzaro Couture in 1975 and continues with Chrome in 1996.
